The six-belted clearwing has a wingspan of 15-21 mm. This species inhabits calcareous soils including chalk downland, quarries and sea-cliffs. The larval foodplants are birdīs-foot trefoil (Lotus) or kidney vetch Anthyllis vulneraria). The day-flying adults can be seen between June and August.
